Who use MARS?
The shipyards using the MARS system today obviously have different characteristics, which however is interesting to emphasise as is this gives potential MARS customers an indication of the scalability and flexibility of the MARS system. The MARS system is not a system that is only applicable for certain types of shipyards, as the concept of MARS is useful for all. MARS has e.g.:

• Built more than 1,500 ships
• More than 70 references worldwide

By example we have shipyards as customers with more than 15,000 employees building navy ships, where the building time of the ships exceeds one year, the number of subcontractors and suppliers involved in such projects are impressively high and finally not to forget the costs of such projects – MARS is for these shipyards the most vital IT application in place at the shipyard in order to control the project and the entire logistic processes.

Other shipyards using MARS have 250 employees, building smaller vessels as e.g. tugboats or dredgers, where the hull is delivered to the shipyard pre-outfitted, and the remaining tasks and activities are mostly related to the final outfitting process.

Another example could be that some shipyards work with other shipyards on common projects e.g. certain sections and modules are fabricated and pre-outfitted at one shipyard (A) and afterwards delivered to shipyard (B) for assembly and final outfitting. For such vertical and horizontal co-operation, MARS is the common platform installed at the shipyards that makes such complex projects possible within time.
